TERMS OF SERVICE

To use Hallway, you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Be a currently enrolled student at a recognized college or university in India
• Have a valid college or university email address (ending in .edu, .ac.in, .edu.in, or other accepted domains)
• Not be previously banned from Hallway

By creating an account, you confirm that you meet all of the above requirements. If we discover that you do not meet these requirements, we may suspend or permanently ban your account without notice.

Hallway uses magic link authentication. When you sign up, we send a one-time login link to your college email address. Clicking that link verifies your email and creates your account.

You are responsible for:

• Keeping your account secure
• Not sharing your login link with anyone
• All activity that occurs under your account
• Providing accurate profile information (name, college, display name, photo)

You may only create one account. Creating multiple accounts to bypass a ban or circumvent any restriction is a violation of these Terms and will result in a permanent ban of all associated accounts.

Hallway is a space for genuine, respectful student-to-student connection. By using the platform, you agree not to:

• Engage in harassment, bullying, threats, or hate speech of any kind
• Share, display, or distribute sexually explicit content
• Expose yourself or engage in any indecent acts during video calls
• Impersonate another person, student, or institution
• Use the platform to solicit money, promote products, or run scams
• Record, screenshot, or capture any part of another user's video or audio without their explicit consent
• Share another user's personal information without their consent
• Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the platform
• Attempt to hack, disrupt, or reverse-engineer any part of the platform
• Use Hallway for any illegal purpose under Indian law

You retain ownership of any content you submit to Hallway (such as your profile photo or display name). By uploading content, you grant Hallway a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to store and display that content as part of operating the Services.

You are solely responsible for the content you share on the platform. We do not endorse any user-submitted content and take no responsibility for it.

We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms or our community guidelines at any time without notice.

All video and audio calls on Hallway are peer-to-peer via WebRTC. Hallway does not record, store, or monitor the content of your calls.

However, this does not mean your calls are invisible to the person on the other end. You are responsible for your own behavior during calls. If another user records your call without consent, that is a violation of these Terms and should be reported to us immediately.

By using the video chat feature, you acknowledge that:

• You are voluntarily connecting with another verified student
• You will treat the other person with respect
• You will not record, screenshot, or share the other person's video or audio
• You can end or report a call at any time

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban any account at our discretion for violations of these Terms or our community guidelines. Depending on the severity of the violation:

• Minor violations — Warning issued. Repeated minor violations may escalate to a temporary suspension.
• Moderate violations — Temporary suspension.
• Serious violations — Immediate permanent ban. No appeal.
• Illegal activity — Immediate permanent ban and report to relevant authorities.

You may also delete your own account at any time by contacting us at hello@hallwaychat.online.

Hallway is provided "as is" without any warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee that the platform will be available at all times, error-free, or free of harmful content generated by other users.

We are not responsible for the behavior of other users on the platform. You use Hallway at your own risk.

We do not verify the identity of users beyond their college email address. The display name and profile photo shown to you during a match are self-submitted by the other user.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Hallway and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to damages resulting from interactions with other users, unauthorized access to your account, or loss of data.

These Terms shall be governed by and defined following the laws of India. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in India.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated date at the top of this page. If we make material changes, we will notify you via email or a notice on the platform. Continued use of Hallway after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms.
